Every loves stories. But what is a short story?

Here’s what I’ve been able to work out from 10 minutes of internet searching:

• They’re short (shorter than an average book but longer than a really short one)
• They’re stories (fiction of all types, I spotted one with the Eiffel Tower on the cover, so even stories where the main protagonist is a world famous landmark!)
• And they’re FREE (which means you can get a bunch of books without spending a penny)

And why is there a dog in the picture? Not a clue? They can’t read. They don’t understand the concept of money. But they are short, mostly.
